Workshop on Forest Fires in The Process of Climate Change: Final Statement and Decisions
Climate change negatively affects economic and social life in our country, as in the rest of the world, as well as forest ecosystems and agricultural areas. There is an expectation that the negative effects of climate change will continue. Forest fires are one of the most fundamental factors threatening forest ecosystems and increasing the losses in forest areas that are in value because of their functions and life insurance of today and future generations. Forest fires were covered in all aspects in the “Workshop on Forest Fires in the Process of Climate Change” organized by the General Directorate of Forestry on October 13-15, 2021 and held with the participation of all stakeholders. As a result of the evaluations made by the 9 working groups, a total of 135 decisions and 217 actions proposals were made. At the workshop, the agenda items of precautions to be taken before, during and after a fire, communication with the public, technology and innovation, and establishment of the Fire Association of Mediterranean Countries are all discussed; thus, a roadmap to fight wildfires stakeholders was revealed.
