Food and Nutrition Working Group
Cancer is described as an anomaly of the cell's genetic material caused by a variety of factors, as well as the uncontrolled multiplication of these aberrant cells. Although cancer is caused by a variety of factors, including smoking, synthetic chemicals, water, and air pollution, combustion products, sunlight, ionizing radiation, and others, research indicates that carcinogenic substances derived from foods are one of the most important factors of cancer. Aside from the quantity of presence of these forms in food, the diet and food consumption habits of those exposed to them are also essential.
Based on the impacts of food and nutrition on cancer formation, the TÜBA Food and Nutrition Working Group was formed with the following goals and objectives:
- To provide the society with the most accurate information about food and nutrition,
- To provide qualified manpower to raise awareness on this issue,
- To cooperate with the relevant institutions and organizations of national and international universities, public and non-governmental organizations on the subject,
- To encourage the preparation of effective scientific research projects,
- To organize workshops on metabolic diseases, including obesity, diabetes, arteriosclerosis,
- Organizing symposiums and conferences on food and balanced nutrition,
- To disseminate the use of science in this field and to provide nutrition education.
