Election of Representation Committee Members
After the signing of the Armistice of Mondros, the territories of the Ottoman Empire were transferred to the Entente states. After this date, the territory of the Empire was occupied from all sides. The Istanbul Government displayed a surrenderist attitude towards the occupations. There was also no strong organization to show resistance against the occupations. Mustafa Kemal, who wanted to save the country from the situation in which it had fallen, saw that he could not realize his plan in Istanbul, so he had the idea of moving to Anatolia. The opportunity he had been waiting for came in 1919. 9th Army In his capacity as an inspector, he set off for Samsun with his entourage on May 15, 1919. After arriving in the region, he began attempts to save the country. With the telegrams he sent to various commands and provinces, he mobilized national resistance against the occupations. Mustafa Kemal Pasha and his entourage first organized a national congress at the Erzurum Congress and elected nine members of the delegation. The nine members elected by the Erzurum Congress are as follows: "Hacı Musa Bey, Bekir Sami (Kunduk) Bey, Şeyh Fevzi Efendi, Hüseyin Rauf (Orbay) Bey, İzzet (Eyüpoğlu), Servet (Hacısalihoğlu) Bey, Sadullah (Eren) Bey, Raif (Dinç) Bey and Mustafa Kemal Pasha. After the election of the Delegation of Representatives at the Erzurum Congress, new members were elected to the Delegation of Representatives as a result of the meeting held by the Sivas Congress. These members are as follows: Ahmet Rüstem Bey, Refet (Bele) Bey, Ömer Mümtaz Bey, Hakkı Behiç Bey, Mazhar Müfit Bey, Ratipzade Mustafa Bey, Kara Vasıf Bey. After the election of the members, the Delegation started to work without interruption and became the nucleus of the New Turkish State to be established in the future.
