Ahali and Temin from the Edirne Press Organs of the Armistice Period
Ahali and Temin from the Edirne Press Organs of the Armistice Period
This article examines the organizational phase of the National Struggle in Thrace as a local history study on the scale of Edirne through the newspapers Ahali and Temin. While studies on the Thracian press during the National Struggle have focused on the Trakya Pasaeli newspaper (Şanlı: 2021) and the Sofia editions of the Ahali newspaper (Vatansever-Sannav: 2016), (Doğruöz: 2013), a comparative study on the Ahali and Temin newspapers published in Edirne has not been conducted so far. The most important reason for this is the limited number of copies of both newspapers in libraries and archives. In this study, in addition to the 4 issues of Ahali newspaper published in Edirne and included in the catalogs, the issues numbered 22 and 37 in my personal library are included, and in addition to the only issue of Temin newspaper in the catalogs, the missing-page issue numbered 264 in my personal library is included. The stance of both newspapers during the National Struggle, their staff of writers, the subjects they covered, and their connections with the local and central administration are within the scope of this study.
