Erzurum City Archive and Its Importance for the History of the National Struggle

Erzurum, one of the cities that shed light on history, has been subjected to many wars and occupations throughout the centuries, and these occupations and wars have gained an important place in the historical memory of the city. Especially in the Turkish Nation's struggle for existence, which is called the Period of National Struggle, Erzurum fulfilled its duty well. These struggles constitute an important part of both visual and recorded history. Although many historical documents, especially after World War I distorted by the authorities, many documents of the War of Independence period in Erzurum are to be kept in the memory of the city of the Erzurum City Archive. The archive created about the city with the works of important historical figures was established within Erzurum Technical University. This study, which includes a brief historical background of the region and information about the city archive, aims to provide information about this city archive within the history of the War of Independence.
