Gümüşhane During the National Struggle
The Ottoman State was defeated in the First World War, its last major war. The State had to sign the Armistice of Mudros with the Entente Powers. Allied Powers occupied many important places of the Ottoman Empire. After the invasions, the National Struggle began in Anatolia. This struggle grew rapidly under the command of Mustafa Kemal Pasha and achieved success. As a result, a fully independent Turkish State was established. It is very important to understand, write and evaluate the history of the National Struggle in all its aspects. Studies in the field of local history contribute to this.The most important factor in the victory of the National Struggle was that the Turkish Nation acted in unity and solidarity. The people of Gümüşhane also contributed greatly to this process. Although they were greatly affected by the destruction of the First World War, they contributed to the National Struggle both materially and spiritually. They had a share in the victory. In this study were discussed the situation of Gümüşhane during the years of the National Struggle, the views and contributions of the people of Gümüşhane to the Struggle. While preparing the article, primary sources such as archive documents, newspapers of the period, magazines, official records, memoirs, as well as secondary sources on the subject were used.
