Local History of Sı̇vas in the National Struggle

The people of Sivas protested the occupation of Izmir and other homeland lands by organizing rallies and sending telegrams. Mustafa Kemal Pasha and the delegation led the National Struggle in Sivas between September 2, 1919 and December 18, 1919. The people and administrators of Sivas fulfilled their responsibilities in this process. Sivas Association for Defence of National Rights and Sivas Anatolian Women's Mudafaa-i Vatan Cemiyeti were important institutions of the struggle. The people of Sivas practically lived the history, witnessed important events and hosted the Sivas Congress. They also made all kinds of sacrifices during the post-Congress developments and the regular army period. The direct experiences, observations and contributions of the people of Sivas at that time were included in the works of the writers who had the chance to interview them. The memoirs written by people who undertook important tasks have made significant contributions to this study. Tracing historical traces at the local level, accessing information and carrying them to the general history will add a different flavor and excitement to the history of the National Struggle.
