Kırşehir Parliamentarians in the First Grand National Assembly of Türkiye
The National Struggle, which started regionally after the Armistice of Mondros and then turned into a national struggle under the leadership of Mustafa Kemal Pasha, received support from a wide range of circles such as those returning from demobilization, prominent members of the public, religious leaders, and leaders of the Alevi-Bektashi population. One of the places that supported Mustafa Kemal Pasha and the National Struggle he initiated was Kırşehir and its surroundings, although it was not occupied after the armistice. During the Yozgat uprisings, which were organized against the parliament and could only be suppressed with difficulty, Rıza Bey from the Kırşehir region, Hamitli Rıza Bey, who was the Deputy of Kırşehir in the TBMM, provided important services with his forces alongside Çerkez Ethem. It is noteworthy that despite his services in the National Struggle, Rıza Bey was executed by the Independence Court in 1926. Another Kırşehir MP, Ahmet Müfit Efendi, who rendered valuable services in the National Struggle, joined the second opposition group in the parliament and even became one of the spokespersons of this group. Cemalettin Çelebi was a deputy who could not attend the parliament due to his illness and old age, while Bekir Sıtkı Ağa, who is mentioned as a deputy in the documents, could not become an MP. Yahya Galip Bey, one of the deputies in the First Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, was elected as an MP from Kırşehir and then Ankara.
